Wine Cellar in Gandesa
Year: 1919
Location: Gandesa (Spain)
Description: At Gandesa's wine cellar, Martinell introduces the catalan vaults or brick up vaults as system of nave enclosure, which are built on balanced arches and distributed in different heights to leave light gaps in between them and to avoid cracks. An extension to the building was made in 1983 hence, under the direction of the architect Manuel Ribas Piera, who seems to have reproduced Martinell's project.
